This tool is a very powerful for marketing, and I haven’t seen very many businesses use it. Questions and Answers
In 2017 Google launched a new feature that enables potential and existing customers to ask questions about your business directly within your Google My Business listing. If you are serious about your online reputation, you should monitor this activity as carefully as you monitor your Google reviews. This is because anyone can answer those questions even though they don’t own the business. This can be very dangerous since they may provide the wrong information. On the plus side this is a perfect opportunity learn what your visitors may need and post the accurate and professional answers for everyone to see. The one down side to this is the fact that Google doesn’t send any notification when a question has been asked. If you want to be notified quickly so you can answer the question in a timely manner, you will need to download the google map app on your phone and turn on the notification option. This only works with Android phones at this time. If you are an Iphone user you will have to check your business listing on a regular basis.
- Business Description
Business description used to be part of local listing but removed in 2016. This feature has been reintroduced in March 2018 so you can add a business description to your listing once more. It will display at the bottom of your local posting. As Google recommends on its official help page, you should use the description feature to describe what you offer, what sets you apart from others, your business history and anything that will help customers make informed choices before buying. The description should be no more than 750 words. To view your business features on a mobile version, you will be find it under the About tab.

Google reviews, we’ve all heard how important to Google, reviews are and the quantity and quality of the reviews will play a crucial role in your Google ranking. It can also work wonder for your business reputation since 84% of people trust online reviews. Online reviews are prominently displayed next to your listing in Google maps as well as your business panel. So what is the best way to get Google reviews for your business? The best way, ask your customers, Google has no problem with you asking them for a review as long as you do it in an ethical way. What does that mean? Don’t bribe, pay or exchange services in order to gain reviews. Make sure you respond to all your reviews and if a problem comes up, contact the person or persons and offer to fix the problem, then once fixed as the person or person to change their review. To be notified when you have a review, download the Google My Business App, open it and go to settings, notifications and make sure the customer reviews option is ticked. When a customer posts a review, a push notification will appear on your screen allowing you to respond right away.

Originally launched to give restaurant owners the option of adding their menus as part of a Google listing, This feature has been extended to some other services and businesses such plumbers, electricians, beauticians, florists and digital agencies. These business can a list of the services they provide to their listing on their Google My Business account. Services can be listed by category which will include a description and can contain multiple items which need to be priced individually. The Google listings are only visible on mobile phones through the Google listing.
- Adding Videos To Your Listing
Do you know that it is predicted that by 2021 Videos will account for 82% of all Internet traffic? The power of Videos is so powerful that up to 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound. I assume you have added photos to your Google listing and if you haven’t I suggest you do it as soon as possible. But now you are also able to add videos to your Google listing. Using videos brings your listing to life and is a great customer engagement tool. It is important to understand that you can’t add just any old video, it must feature your place of business and the people who work for you don’t add any videos from stock libraries as Google will just remove it. What is required for the video? That is simple, Each Video Must Be Up To 330 Seconds Long. Up to a 100 mgb. 720px or higher. This means there is no need for some mega Bollywood production. You can shoot something with your phone and add it to your account.
- Add A Booking Button
If you are a service based type of business that relies on people or businesses making appointments, then you will really like this part of the app. It is possible to add a book an appointment button directly into your Google My Business dashboard which will enable prospective customers to make a booking on your listing. This is a great feature to make your listing stand out from the crowd and search results and turn prospects into customers easily. The whole process is very quick and painless and easy to track in your dashboard. This feature is only available in certain countries so you will have to check before trying to add it. You will also need an account with one of Google’s providers such as Bookatable, Full Slate.
- Direct Messages With Customers
For existing customers and potential customers who find your listing on Google can message you through the app directly. Again this is only available in certain countries so check to see if yours is one. Using this feature allows you and your potential customers to engage and for you to turn them into pay customers. This feature only works for mobile web users and users of the app are unable to use this function.
- Website Builder
This isn’t a new feature but it’s important that you know it’s available as most people seem to overlook it. For those that don’t have a website yet and are not able to afford and a web developer to create one, this is a viable option. It’s easy to use and you don’t need any coding skills. It’s also free.
